Lithuania folded his arms and stared at the wall before smiling dreamily. "Natalia..." he said to himself before walking to his room.
Elsewhere, near Canada's house, a single hooded figure bolted down the street. Cuba looked from left to right, making sure Lithuania and Belarus were not near. His left arm was gone from the elbow down. Seeing his friends' house, he ran up to it and pounded on the door. He cursed under his breath. 'Get down here, one of you!!' he thought.

Russia was in the middle of a blissful sleep before suddenly being woken by a pounding noise. He blinked and frowned before gently pulling the blanket off of himself.

Cuba looked around again, his heart racing and his eyes wide in panic. "Russia wake up! It's me Cuba, I really need to talk to you and Matt!!" he called before pounding on the door again. Canada groaned and rubbed his eyes before sitting up. "Nngh... What the- What's going on?" He heard the pounding. "Why on earth is Cuba wanting to see us at this ungodly hour??"

Russia got out of bed and turned on the light before limping from the bedroom to the door. He rubbed his eyes before opening the door. "What in the name of Stalin are you doing here at this late?"

Cuba looked at him with panicked eyes. "Russia, I have some information about Belarus and Lithuania. Please, you have to listen!" he said in a frightened whisper. He kept the stump of his arm hidden in his coat.

Russia could sense that Cuba was serious and looked at him before moving out of the way, allowing for Cuba to enter. He shut the door behind them. "Let me get Matvey." He said, going over to where Canada's wheelchair was in the living room and wheeling it to the bedroom. "You awake, Matvey?" said Russia, softly.

Canada nodded and stretched. "I am. What's going on? Is that Cuba??" he asked, his eyebrows raised in surprise as to why their friend would be out so late. Cuba sat down in the living room in a chair that was facing the couch, cradling the stump of his arm.
Russia went over and gently picked up Canada from the bed before setting him down in the wheelchair. "Comfortable?" he said, smiling at Canada.

Canada smiled back. "Yeah." He reached back and put his hand on Russia's.

Russia turned the wheelchair and wheeled it into the living room. He stopped it next to the sofa before sitting down in a chair. "What is it, Cuba?" Russia's eyes were cold and calculating as he now knew anything having to do with Belarus was serious.

"I overheard Belarus and Lithuania talking about bombing your home if you didn't call off the buffer zone. She said she wanted to bomb Primorsky, but I don't know why she'd try to bomb there." Canada bristled. "That little- Grrr... Primorsky is Canadian territory, bitch..." Cuba started. "Did you just curse??" "Damn right I did! First she cripples us both, now she wants to hurt Ivan again, who's next??!" "I think I can answer that..." Cuba replied. "Look what Belarus's lackey did to me!" He pulled his arm stump out from the coat.

"That buffer zone is something I know needs to be done, Cu-" he was cut off as Cuba revealed his injury. Russia stared at the scarred stub of flesh and said, "Little Liet...did that...?" He looked over at Canada, his eyes expressing his concern for Canada's safety.

"Yes, the little shit chopped my arm off! Belarus has really gotten under his skin, he's turning into a mirror image of her! She told him 'If you love me, you will do it.' The only reason he didn't kill me is because another meeting was going on not far from where he attacked me." Canada looked genuinely pissed. "That son of a bitch..." His fists clenched. "Are they trying to start a war?" "It seems that's the case." Cuba replied, hiding his arm stump again.

Russia closed his eyes and gritted his teeth. "Belarus....Why did you have to get Liet involved....?" he muttered under his breath. He looked up at Cuba and said, "What did Liet say when he was attacking you?"

Cuba sighed in relief. "Thank you so much comrade..." Canada popped his knuckles. "If it does come to war, and I really hope it doesn't, I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will send those two running for the hills."

Russia put a hand on Cuba's shoulder and said, "No need for thanks. I don't want anymore people to get hurt because of a family matter." He pulled back and looked away. 'Too many have been hurt already' he thought.

Cuba nodded. "Very well. I best be heading back, you never know who Belarus might have under her influence..." He said, rubbing the stump of his arm. Canada was starting to feel drowsy again.

Russia nodded and walked behind Canada's wheelchair, putting his hands on the handles. He nodded and said, "Be safe."
Cuba nodded. "Take care." He replied before heading out the door and bolting to his apartment on the far side of town. Canada looked up at Russia, a bit scared. "I'm scared Russia... Belarus is really this serious about... you-know-what?" he didn't say 'marrying you' because it was a painful reminder to them both about what Belarus had done to them. And now she authorized hurting Cuba... Canada's and Russia's friend.

"I'm afraid so, Matvey..." said Russia sighing before wheeling him back to his room. "She's brainwashed Lithuania....which is not good because he would do anything for her..."

Canada stared forward. He climbed out of his wheelchair and back on to their bed. He was scared about the oncoming possibility of war, of Belarus and Lithuania, for his own safety, for Russia and Cuba... What was going to happen to them. He pulled his knees up to his chest and looked at the wall.

Russia pulled back the covers and sat down next to Canada. "Matvey..."

Canada looked at Russia. "I'm scared Ivan... If she's willing to hurt someone because she thought they were interfering with her business, what else would she do?" He remembered the crash, how she was driving the truck and tried to kill him. "I don't know if I can face her..." He jumped as thunder rumbled outside. A rainstorm moved in. More memories of the crash flooded Canada's mind. He started hyperventilating and color drained from his face... A rainstorm was the weather they were in on the day of the crash.

Russia's face paled somewhat as he heard the storm. He moved over next to Canada and gently held the smaller nation.

Canada huddled up close to Russia as his eyes darted around the room. He yelped as he saw a lightning strike and buried his face in Russia's chest. Rain pounded against the window, and more thunder didn't help their situation. Before, they had both enjoyed thunderstorms. But after the crash they feared them, as they were painful reminders of what happened that night.
Russia flinched at the sound of the thunder and cradled Canada close to him as he closed his eyes.

Canada opened one of his eyes and looked out the window. "Eeek!! Maple!" he squeaked as he saw lightning flash and covered himself and Russia with a large blanket.

Russia blinked as Canada covered them with the blanket. He looked down at Canada. "It's okay, Matvey... It's just lightning..." he said calmly to him, but in truth he was saying it to calm himself also.

Canada clung to Russia as if holding on for dear life. As thunder clapped, the sound of the crash filled his ears. Lightning reminded him of the headlights of Belarus's truck before the collision. Another clap of thunder rumbled, this one loud enough that it rattled the house a little bit. Canada buried his face into Russia's chest and pressed his little body up against the larger nation.

Russia squeezed his eyes tightly as he tried to block from his memory the sound of Canada's screams and crunching metal.

15 minutes later, the squall stopped and soon it was just the soft sound of gently falling rain. Canada and Russia were still huddled together under the blanket. Canada's face was white. "I used to love thunderstorms... Now they scare me to death..." he whispered to himself.

Russia sighed to himself and moved the blanket from on top of them. "As did I, Matvey...." He looked at the window and watched the raindrops fall.

Canada leaned on Russia and watched the rain fall as well. He reached over and took Russia's hand. What was going to happen to them in the future would be like this storm... It would be ugly and wild for a while. But in the end, even if it leaves behind some devastation, there's always a sunrise to follow.
